Los Angeles, CA - (FirearmsGuide.com) – The Fenix TK22 V2.0 is a 1600 Lumens  heavy-duty tactical flashlight that can go for hours without getting tired. Recently I was testing the Fenix LD30 ultra compact flashlight with 1600 Lumens.

It’s so small that for some users it will be too easy to “lose” in their tool box, tackle box, glove compartment or in a jacket pocket. Those users will probably prefer a bigger flashlight with bigger batteries. Bigger is better could be their slogan so let’s see if that’s true or not.

1. Production quality: Fenix flashlights are known for top quality production and quality control. The TK22 is no exception to that rule; it is made from the best A6061-T6 aluminum. Plus it has a HAIII Hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish that looks awesome but it also makes it very resistant against the elements.  It is totally protected against dust and foreign objects and it has an IP68 Waterproof rating. That means that if you drop it in water for half an hour it will still work. Even the glass that covers the Luminus SST40 LED is toughened and it has an anti-reflective coating.  This is the V 2.0 model that was upgraded in 2019 with many quality features.  The TK22 V2.0 is built like a tank and it will last for years to come. It’s much bigger than the LD30 but it’s not too big. The overall length is 5.91 inches and weighs 5.29 Ounces. The body diameter is larger by 1 inch, and that is important because that leads us to another great feature.

Compare the size - TK22 on the left and LD30 on the right - both are 1600 Lumens flashlight

2. Battery compatibility: 21700 and 18650 Battery Compatible

The TK22 V2.0 is compatible with 21700 and 18650 batteries.  The TK22 is the first flashlight that I was testing that uses large-capacity 21700 rechargeable batteries. For me 21700 was something new. I own around 20 18650 rechargeable batteries that I use to power all my gadgets and flashlights. I love 18650 batteries, but I have to admit that 21700 with 5000 mAh are awesome too. Bigger and heavier than 18650, you can see that 21700 means two things: capacity and power. And those are good things. But I also like the fact that the TK22 V2.0 can be powered by 18650 batteries that I have on hand. To do that you have to insert 18650 into the provided ALF-18 Battery Holder (18650 Adapter) and then insert it into the flashlight.  So, I don’t think that I will run out of power with 5000 mAh of 21700, but it’s good to know that if that happens that I will be able to quickly replace it with my backup 18650 batteries.

TK22 uses large-capacity 21700 battery but with provided adapter can use 18650 battery as well. 18650 adapter is that black cylinder next to the flashlight

3. Light output: The TK22 V2.0 uses Luminus SST40 LED that generates 1600 Lumens max output. Other great features are the four output selections (plus strobe) and a long beam distance of 1328 feet. I like that it has only 4 modes, I would like 3 modes only. Simplicity is a good thing, at least for me. The choice of 20, 150, 500 or 1600 Lumens worked for me in every situation and I was able to quickly and easily go through them every time with the side switch.  The TK22 has a rear and side switch, but for me the side switch is one of the best thing I found on flashlights lately. Simply works great for me every time and make use of TK22 faster and more convenient. With a 5000 mAh 21700 battery you can run theTK22 for 2.1 hours in 1600 Lumens Turbo mode,  that’s a very long time. A 1865 battery will run it in the same mode only 1.3 hours.

4. Ease of use: Fenix TK22 is simple and effective to use. You simply turn it on/off with the tail switch and then you go through the modes of light with the side switch. Simple – Effective - Intuitive. The intelligent memory system will allow the flashlight to remember whatever output you have the light in when turned off and will make this the default mode when it is turned on again. I never had a flashlight that I can cycle through Eco→Low→Mid→High→Turbo so easily and quickly like the TK22. And to enter the strobe mode you just hold the tail switch for 0.8 seconds.

So if you need a flashlight for heavier use, with a larger capacity battery and the option to use 18650 batteries, and if you don’t mind a bit bigger and heavier flashlight then the Fenix TK22 V 2.0 is an excellent choice.  Once you buy this battery you will simply fall in love with its quality and ease of use. The Fenix TK22 V 2.0 is a highly recommended flashlight, our best buy!
